Washington is a bear hunter's paradise, the bear population has been estimated at over 30,000, the most bear in the southern 48 states. About 50% of the bear in the hunt areas are color phase bear and best of all, fall bear licenses are sold over the counter with no draw needed. Spring permits are a draw, but due to high bear numbers, permits have been doubled, draw odds should be higher than ever before.
