Newfoundland Bear Hunting
Directory of 2 Newfoundland Bear lodges, guides and outfitters in Newfoundland.
We have one of the highest black bear densities in Newfoundland, mainly because some of the areas we now do our bear hunting was never hunted previously. The black bears in NL are large, mainly through lack of hunting pressure and weights in excess of 700 lb have been recorded. The number of black bear currently estimated in Newfoundland is at an all time high according to our Wildlife Department.

Sandy Lake Lodge enjoys a healthy population of moose, caribou and bears in the area surrounding its quiet and tranquil location. Not far away, the spring bears start looking for a free meal towards the end of May or first of June, depending on how late the winter hangs on. One can take a brief stroll to the lakeside in the early morning as the mist is slowly receding and catch a limit of tasty brook trout for breakfast.
